I did wish for a bit more of Jonathan's POV interspersed throughout the story. At the end of the book there are suggestions for celebrating the Day of the Dead along with several recipes. It was a form of escape in itself to find myself watching from the sidelines, scenes from Sankovitch's life (both good, warm, joyful times, as well as unbelievably tragic times of loss and pain) - even if I hadn't gone through the same things, often I could understand exactly what she was saying, thinking, reading. The spoiled Cardigan didn't take well to this treatment, quickly clashing with fellow students. Over the past 20 years, Vetter has almost single-handedly reversed the tendency of physicians to diagnose any unexplained skin lesion as a brown recluse bite. I feel Siebert outdoes himself in this penultimate chapter.
