By rating this book with one star and designating the "author's writing" as "poor" I am slamming THIS PARTICULAR EDITION, and not the brilliant satirical work authored by Jonathon Swift. The lack of foreshadowing combined with the sketchy setup was enough to make to make me put the book down but wait, this author had one more doozy in store for me.
The hero assists in a difficult delivery of a foal and the babe has one leg bent preventing it from entering the birth canal. But with that said, the content of the audio version is worth listening to. David quotes a Private Pennington saying the 11th "regarded [Cardigan] as the Murat of the British army" (364), impressed with his pomp and splendor. It makes you think about life, but isn't so deep that it gets over your head. Unfortunately, a beginner in the field of study wouldn't know that and would end up believing many things that are incorrect.. Kelly Eileen Hake is always a great read.
