I just love the combination of humor and "can-do" attitude in this book -- it's very empowering. Nickless writes with excellent care. (page 203) I think what they are trying to say here is that the reference tool must be at least three times *more accurate* than the instrument being calibrated, but the word they used instead ("great") falls so short of the mark it may very well lead the reader to the wrong conclusion ("Three times bigger?").
