Full of insights and colourful anecdotes about the management of Empire, this moving personal history charts the author's journey from his childhood in Malaya before the Second World War to his present retirement in Hungerford. Evacuated as a schoolboy from England to Malaya in 1940 and then to Australia, K.J. Barnes returned to England in 1943 while the U-boat war was still at its height. After university he left England again to take up an appointment in the Colonial Administrative Service in Nigeria in 1954. In 1960 he was transferred to Malawi, and remained there until 1971. When Britain joined what was then the European Economic Community soon after this, Barnes was appointed to the staff of the European Commission in Brussels, specialising in development aid to former European colonies. When the expansion of the Community provided the opportunity to take early retirement in 1987, he did so, returning to an England in which he had never before lived on any long-term basis.
Kenneth Barnes was appointed to the Colonial Administrative Service and began his career in Nigeria in1954 and went on to Malawi in 1960 where he became Permanent Secretary to the Malawi Treasury. After retirement from the service he moved to the European Commission in Brussels where he worked on the problems of development aid to the newly independent former European colonies in Africa.
The rest, I believe, will follow I really enjoyed the book, good thing it didn't t contain anything useless like how to ride a horse or win armwrestling

A word of notice: This book is not specialised on a specific topic, like style or behaviour. The second edition of this book is an improvement over the first edition. This is fairly slow moving but adequate western meets werewolf novel. The art style leans on the young side, though nearly all characters in explicit situations are adult aged (the only exception being the seme in "Indirect Youth").

In all, I'd say this title is pretty good. It's extremely unlikely I shall ever actively use them considering we're talking highly offensive language, but always good to learn something new.
Overall, very informative, insightful and certainly unique. Seriously, I loved that part. His bizarre dream of an island kingdom with him as ruler never came to fruition and died with him on the sands of Mili Atoll in the Marshal
